Half Moon Bay is a short trip away from San Francisco with beautiful coastline views, small town vibe and has great outdoor activities all season long.
The drive to Half Moon Bay is gorgeous. Our first stop was Pacifica State Beach it was a great stop to stretch our legs and enjoy the view. We also spotted the most amazing Taco Bell you could perhaps find in the world. After enjoying the view, we headed back on the road but we will for sure be back to visit Pacifica especially in the spring/summer time during surfing season.
Once we arrived at Half Moon Bay our first stop was The Ritz-Carlton. The hotel has beautiful views looking out to the ocean, the main restaurant, Navio, serves great brunch and dinner and we did a short walk from the resort down to the beach. We really enjoyed our time relaxing here for an hour or so. My husband and I kept saying if we had gotten married in California we would have chosen to get married at this hotel.
For lunch, we went to Sam’s Chowder House and we loved this restaurant. We both ordered the lobster roll and the size of the meal was generous. It was seriously one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and to top that we sat with a perfect view of the coast. IF only we could eat lunch like this every day! No wonder they had won so many awards over the years. The place was also packed so making reservations in advance for lunch at this place is highly encaged.
Post lunch we did a hike at Montana Mountain View Trail. The hike was beautiful with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The hike was easy for an uphill hike. You may get lucky and see some whales from the top.
We also visited the Historic Main Street for some shopping and dessert. We had the best time there all the boutique stores are very cute and a lot of the products sold here are locally made. The cafes here are wonderful. I had an espresso at Half Moon Bay Coffee Co. and the BEST cookies at Half Moon Bakery (we had to come back to buy some chocolate cookies for our trip back home).
Make sure to visit Fitzgerald Marine Reserve for the 3 mile stretch of bluffs and tidepools. The trip to Half Moon Bay wouldn’t be complete without stopping here.
Enjoy. Xo.
